Nursing Theory I 4 Credits
This course provides exploration of the concepts and theories that support the nursing role. Emphasis will be on professional development through the use of coping and adaptation skills. Legal and ethical aspects of nursing care will be introduced. This is also an introductory course of concepts related to normal growth and development from birth through the older adult. A holistic approach will be utilized encouraging the student to assess the client's physical, developmental and psychosocial aspects of care and self-care with an emphasis on prevention and early detection of disease. This preparatory course also enables the student to accurately apply the principles of assessment to the nursing process. (Prerequisite: BIOL 152, Admission to the ADN program,)
