5/12/25: Microsoft Office 2024 Upgrade - Scheduled for Monday

To ensure a secure and consistent computing experience for all students and employees, Information Services will begin upgrading all faculty and staff computers to Microsoft Office 2024 starting at 4 PM on Monday, May 12.  Those who have already updated to Office 2024 will not notice any change on Monday, May 12.

 

What You Need to Know:  

  • When: The update will begin automatically at 4 PM on May 12.  
  • Duration: The upgrade takes approximately 30–60 minutes.  
  • Impact: All Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) will close during the update.  
  • Remote Devices: If your computer is not connected to the internet at that time, it will update the next time you go online.  

  

Note: If you follow the "Upgrade Early" instructions below, you will not be impacted by the automatic update on May 12.

  

Need Office Access During the Update?  

You can continue working using Office web apps by visiting portal.office.com.  

 

Want to Upgrade Early?  

You can upgrade ahead of time by:  

  1. Opening the Company Portal app.  
  1. Following the instructions under "Upgrade Office 2021 to 2024" on our Information Services SharePoint site.  

Note: If you don’t see Company Portal on your computer, please contact Information Services so we can resolve the issue.

 

Why Upgrade Early?  

Upgrading through Company Portal allows you to choose a convenient time for the 30–60 minute interruption to your Office desktop apps.
