5/28/26: Upcoming OneDrive Sync Rollout for Crowder College Employees

Dear Crowder College Employees,

This summer, Information Services is rolling out an update to make your files easier to access across multiple devices and reduce the risk of data loss due to hardware failure by syncing key folders on employee computers to Microsoft OneDrive.

What Will be Synced to OneDrive

The following folders on employee computers (office laptops and desktops) will be automatically synchronized to OneDrive:

  • Desktop
  • Documents

Note: The Pictures folder will not be included in this synchronization process.

“Keep on Device” Option

While this change does not require you to do anything, some of you may wish to make sure specific critical files are always available on your computer, regardless of whether it is connected to the internet.

If there are specific files or folders you want to ensure remain stored locally on your computer and available without internet access, you can select the “Always keep on this device” option.

Steps to keep OneDrive files available on your device (File Explorer):

  1. Open File Explorer (click the folder icon on your taskbar).
  1. In the left-hand navigation panel, select OneDrive – Crowder College.
  1. Browse the file or folder you want to keep available offline.
  1. Right-click the file or folder.
  1. Click “Always keep on this device.”

This will download and maintain a copy directly on your machine while continuing to sync with OneDrive.  To avoid unnecessarily filling your computer’s hard drive, please limit the “always keep on this device” files and folders to only your most essential data.

Rollout Schedule

  • Start Date: May 29, 2026
  • Initial Location: McDonald Hall and expanding gradually
  • Devices Included: Employee office desktops and laptops
  • Devices Excluded: Classroom and lab machines will not be included in this rollout

After the initial deployment, Information Services will continue expanding this update gradually to other areas across campus throughout the summer.
